What is Nepali typing online?

Nepali typing online is the act of producing Devanagari Nepali text directly in a web browser without installing software, a keyboard driver or a custom font. TypeNepal supports four input methods — Romanized phonetic, Preeti layout, on-screen keyboard and voice — all producing standard Unicode output.

How do I start typing in Nepali for the first time?

Open the Easy Typing tool, type Nepali words exactly as you would say them in English — for example type namaste and नमस्ते appears. The converter handles matras, conjuncts and special characters as you type. No tutorial or training is required to start.

Romanized vs Preeti — which input method should I use?

Use Romanized phonetic input for general writing — emails, chats, school work, social media. Use Preeti only when a government exam, a print-publication workflow or an existing typist team requires the legacy Preeti key layout for compatibility with older documents.

Can I type Nepali on a phone without installing a keyboard app?

Yes. Open TypeNepal in Chrome on Android or Safari on iPhone, choose Easy Typing or Voice Typing, and tap to start. The Unicode output you produce can be copied into WhatsApp, Facebook, Gmail, Messages or any app that accepts text.

Does TypeNepal also work for Hindi typing?

Yes. Hindi shares the Devanagari script with Nepali, so the same Romanized engine produces correct Hindi output for most words. A dedicated Hindi input page with Hindi-tuned phonetic mappings and example shortcuts is part of the Phase 2 roadmap.
